The session decided to support a Water Filter Challenge sponsored by Blacksburg Presbyterian. They are asking for help supplying Guatemala with drinkable water. Each water filter costs $50. We would like to help supply as many as we can. We have collected funds to help buy 3 filters.
If you would like to participate in this vital ministry project, mark your donations for the “Water Filter Challenge” and put them in the weekly collection plate or turn in to the church office.
UPDATE: Thank you so much for your support! Through your generous donations, we will be providing funds to purchase 11 water filters for families in Guatemala.
A day for churches throughout the world to pray for the students, teachers, and school staff in their own congregation. Imagine the impact on those who dedicate their days to educating students and for the students who need God’s protection, guidance and encouragement. This time of prayer can affect every school in our area. First Presbyterian will have a special prayer moment on this day to join this effort. More information is available at www.MomsinPrayer.org.
Rally Day – Rally day will happen on September 8. There will be a full breakfast in between the two services, beginning at 9:30. Rally Day this year will not just be about Sunday School, but about coming together as God’s people in ministry, and celebrating what God does when his people are the faithful church.
Beginning Tuesday, September 10th. We will meet the first Tuesday of each month in the Philethea room at 10:30 am. Ginny Troy will be leading our group for this first class. We will have light refreshments offered. Invite friends and neighbors to attend this group with you.
Our new Bible study class will begin on September 12th. We meet each Thursday at 10:30in the Philathea Room. We are studying first book of the Bible, Genesis. This study will last through spring, and we will be delving into several chapters each lesson. We have different facilitators lined up for the different lessons. The Bible is the only book we will be using with each week answering questions from the chapters that are being discussed. If you have any questions, contact Karen Henderson.
