Lenten Luncheon

Following advisement of the CDC, WHO, and our President, the Session has decided to cancel the remaining scheduled Lenten Lunches.

It is our prayer that you all stay safe and healthy!

Wednesday, March 18th

12 noon – Lenten Luncheons begin – bring a bagged lunch and enjoy the fellowship (Beverages and desserts will be provided)

12:30 – devotional – by Rev. Rev. Bill Wilkins from Mt. Vernon Baptist Church – ends promptly at 12:45 so you can get back to work.

Sunday School & Worship

We will be holding both Sunday School (9:30 am) and Worship (10:30 am) this Sunday, March 15th.

We know that many churches have decided to cancel services due to concerns over the Coronavirus.  However, we have chosen to not cancel our Sunday events and to trust God for his protection and provision.

Please follow the guidance that has been communicated to everyone concerning proper hygiene and limiting personal contact with others.  As a precaution we will be asking everyone to not shake hands, hug and conduct other forms of physical contact.  We will also not be passing the collection plates during the offering time.  Offering containers will be positioned at each of the exits for you to leave your tithes and offerings.  Remember that it is “Five Cents a Meal” Sunday.

We look forward to seeing (not touching) you at church tomorrow.  By all means if you are not feeling well please stay home so as not to potentially expose others.

Grace and Peace,

The Session

Congregational Meeting

The Presbytery of the Peaks Committee on Ministry granted us permission to hold a congregational meeting to elect our Pastoral Nominating Committee (PNC). This meeting will be held on March 1st immediately after the 10:30 a.m. worship service. The PNC will consist of 5-7 church members representing male, female and younger and older members.

After the PNC is elected, they will be trained by the Presbytery staff and then their work will begin. We have been told by Presbytery staff the time it usually takes to locate and have a new Pastor in place is about 8 to 12 months at best. We must always believe things happen for a reason and our reason for being patient with this process is to give God time to help us find the best fit for our Church.

Church Furnace Update

Great News!

Just got a report that the heat is functioning properly so we will have Sunday School @ 9:30 and Worship @ 10:30 as scheduled (Sunday, February 9th).

Church Furnace Update

We have made considerable progress on the repair of the boiler. However, Comfort Systems is continuing to work to get the furnace to operate without smoking and smelling.

A decision as to whether we will be able to conduct worship will be made tomorrow afternoon (Saturday, February 8th). We will post this notice on the website as well as send out emails and post of Facebook.
