Please plan to join us in celebrating Russell’s retirement and his service to us on Sunday, October 27 in the Fellowship Hall following his final 10:30 Worship Service. The deacons are planning a lunch for us and we will have a brief presentation of gifts to Russell and Marilyn.
Next week on Sunday, October 20 immediately after the 10:30 am Worship service – we will meet to:
- Hear the budget
- Elect officers to the Class of 2022
- Vote to concur with the pastor’s request to Presbytery of the Peaks to dissolve the 29-year pastoral relationship as of November 1 (his retirement date).
The new service will begin on Sunday, October 6th, and the time will be from 10:30 am to 11:30 am. Sunday School will happen at 9:30 am.
The session decided to support a Water Filter Challenge sponsored by Blacksburg Presbyterian. They are asking for help supplying Guatemala with drinkable water. Each water filter costs $50. We would like to help supply as many as we can. We have collected funds to help buy 3 filters.
If you would like to participate in this vital ministry project, mark your donations for the “Water Filter Challenge” and put them in the weekly collection plate or turn in to the church office.
UPDATE: Thank you so much for your support! Through your generous donations, we will be providing funds to purchase 11 water filters for families in Guatemala.
A day for churches throughout the world to pray for the students, teachers, and school staff in their own congregation. Imagine the impact on those who dedicate their days to educating students and for the students who need God’s protection, guidance and encouragement. This time of prayer can affect every school in our area. First Presbyterian will have a special prayer moment on this day to join this effort. More information is available at www.MomsinPrayer.org.
