The Presbytery of the Peaks Committee on Ministry granted us permission to hold a congregational meeting to elect our Pastoral Nominating Committee (PNC). This meeting will be held on March 1st immediately after the 10:30 a.m. worship service. The PNC will consist of 5-7 church members representing male, female and younger and older members.
After the PNC is elected, they will be trained by the Presbytery staff and then their work will begin. We have been told by Presbytery staff the time it usually takes to locate and have a new Pastor in place is about 8 to 12 months at best. We must always believe things happen for a reason and our reason for being patient with this process is to give God time to help us find the best fit for our Church.
Sunday, February 23 – Shrove Tuesday will be celebrated after service on Sunday, with a Pancake Luncheon to make it more convenient for the members to attend.
Just got a report that the heat is functioning properly so we will have Sunday School @ 9:30 and Worship @ 10:30 as scheduled (Sunday, February 9th).
Church Furnace Update
We have made considerable progress on the repair of the boiler. However, Comfort Systems is continuing to work to get the furnace to operate without smoking and smelling.
A decision as to whether we will be able to conduct worship will be made tomorrow afternoon (Saturday, February 8th). We will post this notice on the website as well as send out emails and post of Facebook.
In preparation for creating our Pastor Nominating Committee we encourage your participation with one of the steps of the required Mission Study.
We are asking that all of you complete a survey attached below. You can download and print a copy of the survey below or you can complete the survey online (preferred method). These surveys need to be completed as soon as possible and returned/submitted no later than January 13 to enable the process to continue.
Survey is complete. Thanks for your participation.
Our Session will continue to keep you informed as we move forward as expeditiously as possible. Remember that the Elders are available to you as you have questions, concerns, and/or suggestions.
Pray daily for God’s guidance of His church, and have a safe and spiritually fulfilling New Year.
We will gather together for our traditional Christmas Eve Candlelight service on Tuesday, December 24 at 7:30 pm.
Rich Henderson will be here to provide the service. Rich is a resident of Buffalo Junction, VA with his wife, Carol. Their home church is Clarksville Presbyterian; Rich is a Missional Commissioned Pastor with the Presbytery of the Peaks. Mark your calendars and plan to welcome Rich and Carol Henderson to our First Presbyterian Church.
